I imagine it is not ideal being strapped into a loom when the kids want attention. Five-yearold Wendy plays at washing next to a pile of laundry that is bigger than herself. Her mother, my teacher Julia, worked washing clothes for families in the neighborhood. Trini would weave a bit in the early morning before mounting her burro and heading off to the fields to harvest. Weaving that four fingers width in a day sometomes just doesn’t happen.
