Backstrap Weaving- Process and Prejudice (and a pretty braid) » Ayacucho weaving

At the Maryland Sheep and Wool Festival I happened upon the old familiar supplementary warp motifs in this weaving from Ayacucho. I had been to Ayacucho in 1996 before arriving in Huancayo. Back then, only one year after the capture of the leader of the “Sendero Luminoso” group, it wss a beautiful but sad place.
